Pilot Scheme on Social Work Service for Pre-Primary Institutions

  • Identify and support pre-school children and their families in need as early as possible to strengthen the parent-child relationship and communication, and consolidate family relationships.
  • On-site social workers provide professional stationing services at schools, organize group activities and seminars for parents and students, as well as providing professional counseling and referral for students and their families in need to support pre-school children, their parents, care-takers and staff needs.
  • School social work provides stationing service at schools on Monday and Friday. The operating hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services

The OPRS professional teams provide on-site rehabilitation services and training to children with special needs, supplemented with training at centres with rehabilitation facilities. The OPRS professional teams comprise social workers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, educational psychologists and special education child care workers. They will also provide support for parents in fostering positive attitudes and developing effective skills in raising their children.

Support for Non-Chinese Speaking Children

  • We have non-Chinese speaking teachers and a teacher that has received the relevant “Chinese Language Enhancement Programme for Kindergarten Teachers–Level Two” training programme.
  • We arrange interpretation and/or translation service for applicants as necessary, or allow parents and children to be accompanied by a Chinese speaking relative/friend during the interview to facilitate communication.
